I think this course looks good. Using psychoanalytic ideas over 5 evenings, it offers the opportunity to explore the emotional and therapeutic experiences of popular culture and the media. As a starting point, you will play with the idea that we live in a world where the media can provide a potential space to experience different emotions – with themes such as various representations of motherhood in film and ‘spin’ in political media culture emerging for mutual cognitive digestion. Although you can book each week alone, on a stand-alone basis, there is a progression of ideas from one to the next.
Booking is essential as numbers are limited. Dr Candida Yates (University of East London) and Dr Caroline Bainbridge (University of Roehampton) are at the helm.
